Los Angeles, Calif. –December 13, 2017—MilSource, the exclusive US distributor of Techaya ruggedized switching and routing solutions today announced that Techaya was selected to provide their MILTECH 918 MIL-STD Ethernet switch in a US Naval warfare pod.
This precision pod was designed to provide Marine Corps fixed and rotary wing aircraft with a distributed, adaptable and networked Airborne Electronic Warfare capability that can be controlled from the cockpit or by a ground operator.
Needing to create an open architecture design with rapid reprogrammability the US Navy turned to Techaya during an upgrade phase of the pod. Techaya’s commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) MILTECH 918 had a stronger network feature set than the incumbent solution while the smaller form factor and weight allowed them to add additional payload that would enhance the adaptability of the pod to meet current and future threats.
“The small form factor, functionality and rugged componentry made the upgrade of this program an easy choice for the engineering contractors working on this pod”, said Ronen Isaac, general manager for MilSource. “The MILTECH 918 replaces older generation network switches that can save up to 8 pounds of payload while adding advanced network feature sets such as Layer 3 static routing, VLANs, multiple spanning tree instances and QoS support.”
