The Techaya MILTECH line of rugged military-grade compact and ultra-compact Ethernet switches are designed for the rigors of unmanned underwater applications. Unmanaged and managed Fast Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet switches meet the typical size, weight and power constraints of UUW platforms while confirming to MIL-STD 810 and IP 68 specifications.

Because of the obvious interference that water may have on distorting transmissions and the obstacles that underwater exploration may produce; unmanned vehicles have been developed as both tethered and remotely managed platforms. In either configuration these platforms will have several sensors, most likely cameras, possibly data recorders that must all communicate with each other and a centralized compute platform. In all instances, size and weight are key design factors along with the fact that each component must be hardened to be able to stand up to shock, vibration and the corrosive effects of salt water.
